I am a qualified BASI (Body Arts and Science International) Pilates Instructor.
Pilates was the brainchild of Joseph Pilates, who battled against childhood sickness. He overcame these ailments and went on to devise a series of excercises for rehabilitation of those with injuries and weakness, and those seeking to enhance the performance of the human body.
The importance of good “core strength”.
The Abdominals are a muscle group that support the back and alleviates pressure from the spine. Vital in this day and age. We are sedentary for a large portion of the day and most of us have bad posture as well. Pilates teaches us how to develope the correct muscle groups in order to support the structure and the shape of the spine. How and when we recuit these muscles is key. Stabalise. Initiate. Move.
